This was an installation in Bristol. The customer had an existing older Solar System on the Feed-In Tariff ( FIT). The customer wanted to add battery storage to his system, but without interfering with his existing setup, as this can effect your FIT.
What we suggested was to add a new AC coupled inverter – this runs seperately to the existing inverter for panels, and uses a meter to detect excess solar production and divert that into the battery. SolaX offer an inverter specifically designed to work with the older FIT systems.
This inverter was coupled with a 5.8kWh battery from Solax. For this install, 5kWh is a good size for the panels there, however this system can be easily scaled if required down the line.
