Electric Vehicle Chargers

Electric cars are becoming more and more popular, and with them comes the issue of charging your vehicle. The majority of EV users charge their vehicle every night at home; we have chargers available, both as a standalone product, and ones which can work in conjunction with your solar and battery storage to give potentially cost-free charging.

At its most basic level, an EV charger is no different than a typical plug, with the correct outlet for the car (typically a Type 2 Connector). However, due to the large power output that electric vehicles require, there are more safety features than a normal socket. They will require a dedicated earth, and normally its own circuit on your home electrical system.

All chargers are “Smart” Chargers now. Smart EV charging can work in two ways – it can be scheduled to allow charging when the grid rates are cheapest (depending on your electricity tariff from you energy supplier) or, alternatively, the excess solar production can be stored and used to allow your car to charge with the excess power available, allowing for free car charging with no grid energy used.
